Where is the best place to book Accommodation?

The majority of our attendees are staying in Sligo Town and the surrounding area. Ballymote is located just over 20 minutes south of Sligo Town and is catered for by the Sligo-Dublin Train Line. You will find that the majority of our attendees will be going and coming on this train. We will be closing the doors at 10pm on July 29th and there is an exclusive White Hag Train booked to bring everyone into Sligo Town to continue the celebrations. See our

How far is Ballymote from Irish Airports?

Approximately 2 hours 40 minutes (driving) from Dublin Airport.

Other Airports:

  • Approximately 35 minutes (driving) from Knock Airport.
  • Approximately 3 hours 10 minutes (driving) from Belfast Airport.
  • Approximately 2 hours 55 minutes (driving) from Shannon Airport

 

How to leave Dublin airport?

By Taxi…

To catch the Sligo Train from Dublin City Centre (which we recommend) you can get a taxi to Connolly Train Station at cost of around €20-25 (note: prices only an estimate pending traffic). Allow at least a half hour for this. Depending on peak times at Dublin Airport, there can be a queue for taxis so be sure to leave yourself plenty of time to make your connection. There are at least 4 trains that run to Sligo each day so be sure to www.irishrail.ie for more information.

By Bus…

For Expressway Bus straight to Sligo: head to the Atrium Road, Zone 11, Stop 2.

For Bus connections in Dublin City Centre, take any of the following Dublin Bus options: the Airlink 747 (runs every 10-15min) which costs €6 one way or €10 return. Other options include: Bus 16, Bus 41, Bus 102 or Bus 757. Just make sure to ask the Bus Driver that you are going in the right direction. They are very friendly 🙂 Confirm at the Bus and Travel Information Desk where these Bus Stops are located.

Bus from Dublin Airport to Sligo

There is a direct bus that caters for the Dublin – Sligo route. The journey is about 3.5hrs and the cost is around €28 if booked online in advance. You may wish to consider getting the bus directly to Sligo Town and getting the train or bus to/from Ballymote during your visit.

Note: Sligo Bus Station and Sligo Train Station are located beside each other.

Bus from Dublin Airport to Ballymote

There is no bus that caters for the Dublin Airport to Ballymote directly. However, there is a bus that caters for the main Dublin – Sligo route. This bus does not pass through Ballymote village. The closest stops are: Collooney (Quigleys) 15 minute journey (driving) or Drumfin (Morrison memorial) 10 minute journey (driving). You will need to have an arrangement for someone to collect you from these points. Otherwise you may wish to consider getting the bus directly to Sligo Town and getting the train or bus to/from Ballymote during your visit.

Bus from Dublin City Centre to Sligo

Bus from Dublin City Centre to Ballymote

There is no bus that caters for the Dublin City centre to Ballymote directly. However, there is a bus (see Timetable 23) that caters for the main Dublin – Sligo route and you can then take one of the following bus route to Ballymote: See Timetables 460, 471 & 475. Train Dublin City Centre to Ballymote

Once you arrive at Dublin City Centre (get off at either O’Connell Street (a 15 minute walk from O’Connell Street) or Bus Aras (main Bus Terminal) and make your way to Connolly Train Station which is beside Bus Aras Terminal, for the Dublin-Sligo Train. The train journey is around 3 hours to Sligo. The cost is about €40 for return and €20 for single if booked online early in advance and we do recommend this. See: www.irishrail.ie Prices can vary so be sure to review in advance. Ballymote is 2 stops before Sligo town on this line.

Is there a taxi service for getting around Sligo?
