Modern Myth Making from the Wild Atlantic Way
The White Hag is a modern, independent brewery based in Ballymote, Co. Sligo, on Ireland’s rugged Wild Atlantic Way. Founded in 2013 by three Sligo natives, we set out with a simple ambition - to create bold, distinctive Irish beers rooted in place, inspired by heritage, and built for the world stage.
Our name comes from Irish mythology - the White Hag, a powerful figure tied to creation, nature, and transformation. It’s a fitting symbol for how we approach brewing: respecting where we’ve come from, while constantly pushing forward.
What We Brew
At The White Hag, we brew beers that are interesting, innovative, and full of character - always with a nod to the ancient and classic styles that once defined our region.
Our range is led by award-winning stouts and a strong lineup of IPAs, but it’s our adventurous spirit that sets us apart. Our Púca Sour range, inspired by ancient Irish brewing traditions, has become a signature of the brewery - bright, tart, and full of life. Alongside this, we continue to experiment with seasonal releases, collaborations, and small-batch brews that keep things fresh and evolving.
Because for us, beer should never stand still.

We’re a passionate and eclectic team, rooted in Sligo with experience drawn from across two continents. Since coming together in 2013, we’ve built something truly special - Sligo’s first brewery in over 100 years - driven by creativity, curiosity, and a shared love of great beer.
From day one, The White Hag has been shaped by people with the skills, ambition, and mindset to create a world-class brewery. From brewing and innovation to operations and beyond, every part of the business is powered by a team committed to quality, constantly pushing boundaries while staying true to our craft.
From Sligo to the World
While Sligo will always be home, our beers have travelled far beyond it. Today, The White Hag is poured across Ireland and exported to markets including the UK, France, Italy, Spain, Denmark, Dubai - and most recently, the United States, marking an exciting new chapter in our journey.

Barrel-Aged Craft & Brewery Experience

Our crowdfunded barrel-aging programme sees over 40,000 litres of beer resting in carefully selected oak barrels - from wine and whiskey to bourbon casks - creating beers that are slow-crafted, complex, and constantly evolving. It’s where time, patience, and creativity come together to produce something truly special.
